Liked the touch tank where I saw the starfish and sea urchin but no horseshoe crab.
What a great way to spend a hot August morning. Our student guide, Brandon, was really good with my four-year old as well as my eight-year old. There was a short 4 to 5 minute introductory video, followed by a tour (about 30 minutes) and ending with touch tank, and a cart full of non-living marine life to touch, such as teeth, seahorse, sponge, shells. There were five large marine life skeletons suspended from the ceiling. The boys liked the touch tank and the touch cart. I liked the skeletons. We all agreed that it was a fun family morning. We were there about an hour.
Harbor Branch provides free lectures every week from January to April on different aspects of their research. I have attended many of these and they are very educational and related to the local waterways (intracostal and ocean) which we see and use so much. Topics in the past have included: Sharks with Spectators, Deep Discoveries, and the The Indian River Lagoon. There are also boat tours in March.
